Daring to Live - Daring to Love

Daughters Of The King

The Sisters of Mary and Martha Chapter of the Daughters of The King was instituted at Calvary Episcopal Church on March 9th, 2008.  There were nine members installed.  Since then we have installed three more members.  Our officers are:

     President:  Robin Powell
     Vice President:  Fay Jones
     Secretary/Treasurer:  Jennifer Felps

Our meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 6:00 PM in the Bride's Room located in the Community Life Center.

Some of the services we provide are hosting Baptisms, Confirmations and Memorial Services.  We are always available to those in need of prayer and comfort.

The Chapter maintains a prayer list for anyone in need.  Intercessory Prayer Services are held the second Monday of the month, following our Chapter meeting for those who fill out a Daughters of The King Prayer request, and are prayed daily for one month.  All prayers are kept confidential.  You will find the prayer request forms in the pews.  They can be put in the offering plate or placed in the prayer request box in the Narthex.  For more information contact Robin Powell at (512) 303-0459 or (512) 304-5619.  Email: rpowell0459@att.net.

Who We Are

We are a group of Christian women striving to fulfill the promises of our Baptismal Covenant through the adoption of the Rule of Life.
  • To continue in the Apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and in the prayers.
  • To persevere in resisting evil, and when we fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord.
  • To proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ.
  • To see and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself.
  • To strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being.
At Confirmation, we promise to pray, work, and give for the spread of Christ's Kingdom.  Through membership in our Order women are:
  • Strengthened through prayer.
  • Helped to learn through study.
  • Provided community with other Daughters.
We are a group of women living a Rule of Prayer and Service to our neighbors.  We are women to whom parishioners can look for love and for help in time of need, loneliness or strangeness.  We seek to walk with God as our guide and try to draw those with whom we come in contact into the Church.  We are women who work to spread Christ's Kingdom here on earth.  We can never forget that prayer is the foundation from which our service grows.
"Prayer without work is empty words,
service without prayer is labor lost."
